Concepto Bistro is a small hidden restaurant in Madrid´s Latina district. During my last 2 visits to Madrid I stayed in Latina and was checking with the app “thefork” (I will write more about it in a separate post) for a good restaurant close by. I used the 40% discount of “thefork” and tried Concepto Bistro and directly came back the next time :).
Concepto Bistro (Website) only has a few tables and the decoration of the restaurant is basic but nice (wooden tables, relish arm chairs, a nice patterned wallpaper and a semi open kitchen).
First of all I want to mention the extraordinary service. The Argentinian and very sympathetic cook explained the daily specials in person, was always checking if we need something and really made us feel home.
The food was really amazing! First we received a free starter with bread, different cheese slices and a salami selection. A lovely surprise! We ordered another starter with 2 Argentinian meat-filled empanadas and chimichurri sauce (a typical Argentinian oil-based herbs sauce). The empanadas were super tasty, just like some of the best ones I tried in Argentina! As a main dish we had perfect grilled steak with different vegetables.
The real highlight definitely was the dessert. We ordered the “vulcano”: a small chocolate cake with a warm liquid chocolate filling, dulce the leche (the counterpart of Nutella in Argentina ;), a bit of mould cheese and olive oil as a sauce. Yes that sounds strange, but the combination works and was absolutely great! One of the best desserts I have ever had. I think I will always use olive oil now with a chocolate cake that needs a little extra.
We ordered coffee after the dinner and got a little cookie and a praline with dark chocolate and pepper, also great combo!
