I came across the French restaurant Sucre et Sel 2 weeks ago, when I was checking for a nice lunch spot in Berlin Mitte. In fact, I am in love with French cuisine and I haven´t had a good French meal for a while. The reviews were fantastic and I felt really curious to try it.
Sucre et Sel
Sucre et Sel (Website) is located just a few steps away from Rosenthaler Platz. The restaurant is small with few tables only. When I arrived with my boyfriend at around 12:30 am, we didn´t have a problem to get a spot (which honestly surprised me, since normally good places are always busy). In any case I would try to make a reservation for the next time (if it´s possible).
The interior of Sucre et Sel is really cosy and elegant with a huge wood-framed mirror, comfy chairs in blue and red, industrial lamps and lots of pictures of famous French actors and artists. All the tables are decorated with winebottle candle holders. The athmosphere is really warm and relaxing. The service was great too and I liked the fact, that the waiters were dressed very stylish and fancy. It adds the special “French Touch”.
Sucre et Sel offers a great lunch deal. The lunch menu contains a dish of your choice plus either a soup or a soft drink. Prices start at around 8€ which is very cheap especially when you consider that the drink is already included. I ordered Hachis Parmentier which is a potato and minced meat layered dish that is super tasty. My meal came with a great seasoned fresh salad.
My boyfriend ordered the Entrecôte and was totally amazed. He said it was one of the best Entrecôte he ever tried and that he want´s to come here every week now to Sucre et Sel ;). His meal was accompanied by French Fries and salad. I tried the fries and they were super good! Definitely one of the best I had in a long time! The quality of the food is incredible. I can´t think of any other lunch place in Berlin, that offers such a great value!
For sure I will come here on a regular basis now. I want to try all the other dishes as well :).
